Jordan Brooks is an operatic and orchestral conductor and pianist from Philadelphia, PA. He is currently on the music staff at the Sarasota Opera, is a faculty conductor at Chicago Summer Opera, and assistant conductor to the Aiken Symphony. Most recently, Jordan was an assistant conductor to Victor DeRenzi at Sarasota Opera for productions of Puccini’s La Bohème and Verdi’s Il Trovatore. In August 2026 he will conduct Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea with Chicago Summer Opera. In September 2026, he will participate in the Blue Danube Opera Conducting Masterclass with productions of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia.

As an opera conductor, Jordan worked with Opera at USC as music director and conductor for their 2024 production of She Loves Me, and was assistant conductor for productions of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Gilbert and Sullivan’s Ruddigore, and Menotti’s The Consul. He first worked with Chicago Summer Opera as a fellowship assistant conductor for productions of La Bohème and Handel’s rarely performed Silla. He made his international conducting debut in Berlin, Germany in July 2023 as an Assistant Conductor at the Berlin Opera Academy, and has also been a student at Miami Music Festival’s Opera Conducting Bootcamp.

As Assistant Conductor for the Aiken Symphony, Jordan has appeared with the orchestra on numerous occasions, conducting on chamber, pops and children’s concerts, and assisting music director Scott Weiss on Masterworks concerts. He has also appeared as a guest conductor for the South Carolina Philharmonic’s children’s concerts, and guest assistant conductor for the Charleston Symphony. Previous positions include assistant conductor for the University of South Carolina Symphony Orchestra, Music Director and instructor of the university’s Campus Orchestra, assistant conductor of the University of Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra, cover conductor for the Delaware County Symphony and the Youth Orchestra of Bucks County Philharmonia, and Conductor in Residence with the Center City Chamber Orchestra. Previous summer studies include Mostly Modern Festival and Conductors Retreat at Medomak.

Jordan holds a Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance from Temple University and a Master of Music degree in orchestral conducting from the University of South Carolina studying with Scott Weiss. He studied cello with John Koen of the Philadelphia Orchestra and also worked with other members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and high-profile musicians in the area. At Temple, he was principal cello with the Temple University Symphony Orchestra and was involved in dozens of world premiers with local composers. He was also the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Temple University Repertory Orchestra.
